Trinity Karting Group, Inc. was founded in 2013 by Shawn and Michele Bayliff as a spin-off from their Trinity Motorsports Group, Inc. Rolex Sports Car Program and Advanced Motorsports Composites companies in Lima, Ohio. After a successful race driving career, team management, engineering, and driver development program in multiple forms of racing, Shawn was reintroduced to karting in 2010, and the love and joy of racing karts flooded back in on the first lap of driving a kart again. Shawn started racing karts in 1979 and went up the proverbial racing ladder after winning some of the most prestigious karting events in the USA as a factory driver for Margay and Bridgestone during those years. Leaving karts in 1994 for Midget and Sprint Cars, both winged and un-winged, Shawn saw wins in all the major venues, including a track record at the famed Eldora Speedway during a World of Outlaws event, plus he was the 1995 Michigan Sprint Car Champion.
Formula Atlantic and the IRL were the next success in the Atlantic, leading to the entry’s in the 1997 and 1998 Indy500 with Kelley Racing and Team Pelfrey, but that dream was cut short due to timing, rain, and politics. 1999 saw Shawn replacing Roberto Guererro at CBR Cobb Racing, driving for the legendary Price Cobb, in a multi-year contract with the Colorado-based IndyCar team. Unfortunately, the economy took a turn, and the team lost its sponsorship and found itself trying to find funding while testing for the next 2 years. CBR eventually closed its doors, but the friendship was formed, and Price Cobb took over duties as Managing Director at G&W Motorsports based at VIR and hired Shawn as team driver and shop manager. Shawn and Michele managed the program for the next 5 years, with Michele organizing all aspects of Team Logistics and Hospitality while Shawn ran the day-to-day race prep operation and raced on the weekends, winning some very big venues in the Rolex Sports Car Series, including the 6 Hours of Watkins Glen and the 2003 Rolex Sports Car Team and Driver Championship.
By 2006 Shawn and Michele were headed back home to Ohio, driving full-time for ADi Motorsports in the Rolex Series Daytona Prototype. This gave them time to focus on starting their own program, which led them back to Shawn’s first love of karting and the desire to be the premiere kart racing team in the business. Shawn and Michele took over management of Motorsports Country Club of Cincinnati in 2013 and now base all Trinity Karting Group, Inc. activities out of this exclusive private track, with driver development programs for the ages of 5-75.
Trinity Karting Group can provide all the tools necessary to make racing dreams a reality. Their very diverse careers in motorsports give them an advantage in operating TKG that rivals some of the best teams in all of the motorsports. Helping up-and-coming drivers as well as their focus in the master's program, where the complete motorsports driving experience is desired, is their specialty. Shawn’s wealth of experience and connections to so many forms of racing will give young drivers in his driver development program and also future engineers and mechanics an advantage to help them choose the right path. With their success in 2022, TKG is spring boarding into a full-time national competition with WKA Daytona, the full SKUSA Pro Tour, USPKS, and Stars Championship Series'. Custom tailored packages are available for all or one of those championships, and they are looking forward to welcoming more talented drivers to their team.
