Founded in 2013 by Shawn and Michele Bayliff, Trinity Karting Group, Inc. (TKG) emerged from the couple’s deep passion for motorsports and decades of experience in racing. Building on their earlier ventures—Trinity Motorsports Group, Inc. and Advanced Motorsports Composites in Lima, Ohio—they set out with a clear mission: to establish a premier karting team focused on developing drivers of all ages and skill levels.
Shawn’s connection to karting was reignited in 2010 after years in professional motorsports. Beginning his karting career in 1979, he quickly climbed the ranks, earning wins at prestigious events as a factory driver for Margay and Bridgestone. By 1994, he transitioned into Midget and Sprint Cars, capturing numerous victories, setting a track record at Eldora Speedway during a World of Outlaws event, and claiming the title of 1995 Michigan Sprint Car Champion.
Shawn’s journey continued with stints in Formula Atlantic and the IRL, including entries in the 1997 and 1998 Indy 500 with Kelley Racing and Team Pelfrey. Despite challenges at this level, his determination never faltered. In 1999, Shawn joined CBR Cobb Racing under Price Cobb, where he tested and competed until economic headwinds led to the team’s closure. Maintaining their partnership, Shawn and Price transitioned to G&W Motorsports at VIR. There, Shawn and Michele oversaw operations, logistics, and hospitality, helping the team earn standout victories in the Rolex Sports Car Series—including the 6 Hours of Watkins Glen—and securing the 2003 Team and Driver Championships.
In 2006, the Bayliffs returned to Ohio to race full-time for ADi Motorsports in the Rolex Series Daytona Prototype class. This chapter marked a turning point, allowing them to reconnect with their roots in karting—Shawn’s original passion. That vision came to life with the founding of Trinity Karting Group, built with the ambition of creating a top-tier team capable of competing with the best in motorsports.
Today, Trinity Karting Group operates out of the Motorsports Country Club of Cincinnati, offering comprehensive driver development programs for racers ages 5 to 75. Drawing on their extensive experience in both racing and team management, Shawn and Michele have built a dynamic, results-driven team. Their leadership creates unique opportunities for young drivers, engineers, and mechanics to learn, grow, and take meaningful steps toward professional motorsports careers.
Following a successful 2022 season, TKG has expanded into full-time national competition, racing in elite series such as WKA Daytona, the SKUSA Pro Tour, USPKS, and the Stars Championship Series. The team offers customized support packages tailored to help drivers succeed in these ultra-competitive environments.
Whether developing rising stars or refining the skills of experienced competitors, Trinity Karting Group remains deeply committed to turning racing aspirations into reality. Backed by Shawn’s industry insight and long-standing motorsports connections, TKG continues to be a trusted path to the next level of racing.
